About myself

    Fishing in Lake District
I was born in Tokyo in 1948. I was interested in English when I was a kid, but I didn't have any dream of becoming a translator. I loved jazz and wanted to be a jazz drummer, but I found I was a lousy player. Then I settled in a trading firm in Tokyo and worked as Import/Export Manager for 10 years.
Towards the end of the career, I had a chance to set up a plant in Hongkong. After setting up the plant, I decided to quit the company and set up my own firm there.

However, because I was a terrible businessman, my company went belly up soon, and I had to go back to Japan. That's when I thought about becoming a freelance translator and project manager.

The first customer was a Japanese steelmaker, Nippon Steel Corp. (NSC). Since then, my relationship with NSC lasted more than 10 years. The project was called Technical Service Agreement, where NSC dispatched engineers to American or European Steel Works to teach them the technique and know-how that NSC had accumulated. Strip making Steel Works consist of various plants, such as Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Continuous Casting, Hot Rolling Mill, Cold Rolling Mill and Coating. There are divisions of operation, maintenance and computer. During these 10 years, I had many chances to work in every plant, for operation, maintenance and computer divisions, and learned a lot about technical issues.

It's been about 20 years since I started the translator and project manager's career, and now I love every minute of my job. I have been fortunate working with the major enterprises in the world.

They are, Corus (British Steel), Inland Steel, NOKIA, Bell & Howell, Sumitomo Cement, Casio Computer, Honda Motors, NEC, NTT DoCoMo, JETRO, Schinder Elevator in Swiss, Continental Automotive in Germany, Carrier, etc.

In technical discussion and translation, I am good at electric, electronics, mechanical, computer, telecommunication, civil works, constructions, automotive and steelmaking.
